Freedom Day
for the Kulshan Chorus
While I fathom the details
walk the tightrope of anxiety
the singers of life burst forth
in rainbows
from closed doors
into the light.
Broken hearts of people heal.
Scared parts of self
trust again.
If only for the length of song
faith is renewed
loneliness redeemed.
Their voices awaken
our worn-out souls
their cry for justice
prevails
my anxiety loosens
I am made whole again.
Beyond expectation
the singers of life boast
triumph.
By them we are hallowed
made into gold.
On their wings we are ushered
into the promise of peace
into the arms of
a
new Freedom Day.
